What you can personalize
Custom maps on Enjoy The Wood are not one fixed product. You usually pick a base style first — natural wood, colored layers, or sometimes LED — then add engraving where the store allows it. Names, wedding dates, coordinates of a first home, or a short line that turns the map into a memory rather than generic décor.
Size and finish still matter as much as the text. A small engraved map above a desk feels intimate; a large one above a sofa feels like commissioned art. Before you lock a font preview, measure the wall and check M, L, and XL widths on the product page. Wrong size hurts more on custom orders because your text may already be in production.
When custom beats a standard map
Choose custom when the story is the gift — anniversaries, housewarmings, retirement, or a couple's first shared place. Choose a standard map when you just want a beautiful wall piece fast and do not need engraving.
Offices sometimes use custom maps for lobbies or team milestones. If a name or logo must appear on the wall, check character limits on the exact product before you brief anyone.
